Body Composition Analysis

Body composition analysis is essential to completely understand health and weight as traditional methods of assessing health, such as BMI, can be misleading. Going beyond your weight, body composition analysis breaks down your body into four components: fat, lean body mass, minerals, and body water.

Take Fitness to the Next Level

with Body Composition Analysis

How are you tracking your fitness progress?

Weight loss can be an important method in trying to live a healthier lifestyle. Oftentimes we use a bathroom scale to help us track how much weight we’re losing. But doesn’t it seem like that new diet or exercise you’ve been trying only helps you lose weight temporarily and sometimes you end up gaining even more weight? Doesn’t it feel like nothing is really working out the way you had expected? That’s because your bathroom scale is misleading.

Ditch the scale.

Your weight is made up of muscle, fat, and water. The key to effective weight loss is losing excess body fat, not overall body weight. Weight loss is not the same as fat loss. Instead of tracking how heavy you are, use body composition analysis to track how healthy you really are.
Body composition analysis is key. Body composition analysis refers to measuring your body composition, generally known as your body muscle, fat, and water. Instead of focusing on a single number on your scale, body composition analysis allows you to focus on losing body fat and gaining muscle while retaining the proper amount of body water in specific areas of your body. Body composition analysis is the key to tracking and maintaining effective weight loss. Lose weight smarter, healthier, and happier like never before.

Take control of your health.

The InBody accurately measures your body composition in less than 15 seconds and prints out a results sheet which lists out your body composition components, tracking your progress over time. This device shows you key components of your health like your:

• Skeletal Muscle Mass

• Percent Body Fat

• Body Fat Mass

• Basal Metabolic Rate and more!

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to perform an InBody scan at TFW Austin?

Body Composition Analysis on the InBody 270 takes just a few minutes. Following your initial scan we will take the time to explain and help you interpret the results. This usually lasts 15-20 minutes the first scan.

What should I do prior to a Body Composition Scan at TFW Austin?

  1. Maintain your normal water intake to keep your body sufficiently hydrated normally throughout the day. Avoid drinking a large amount of water 2-3 hours before your test.
  2. Remove all heavy objects, jewelry, belts, wallets, etc. Wear light clothing such as t-shirt and shorts.
  3. Use the bathroom.
  4. Preferably perform the test on an empty stomach. If you have eaten, wait 2-3 hours before testing.
  5. Avoid exercise immediately before the test.
  6. Avoid sitting for 5 minutes prior to the test.
  7. Have subsequent scans performed at the same time of day, under the same conditions.

Can anyone be tested on an InBody?

People with artificial electrical implants such as defribrillator or pacemaker should avoid being tested. We do not recommend pregnant women be tested.

How often should I have a body composition test done?

It is recommended to test every 2-4 weeks under similar conditions, in order to effectively track progress.

Is the body composition scan safe?

Absolutely! The electrical current used in the body scans is extremely low, cannot be felt and is not harmful to the body. However, this excludes those fitted with pacemakers or internal defribrillators.

How do breast implants affect my results?

Breast implants will be calculated as body fat. This however, will remain constant between body scans so you will get consistent results and the effect on body fat calculations can be calculated based upon size of implants.

How do I schedule an Inbody test?

Regular scans are included with all unlimited programs at TFW Austin and will be performed regularly through your membership automatically. Non-students can always call to schedule an InBody scan and evaluation session. Please call for pricing.
